Accommodation for the conference is provided in and around Maidstone.  Maidstone is the County Town of Kent and is well placed for international travel with good links globally via London Airports and links to continental Europe via the Eurostar station at Ebbsfleet International or Ashford International . Local travel between Maidstone and the conference venue at East Malling is simple with an 8-minute train ride and a 15-minute walk. Delegates staying in recommended accommodation can take advantage of a planned shuttle bus between their hotel and the conference centre.

International travel

By Plane

London Gatwick and Heathrow airports have regular flights to and from all other UK airports as well as an extensive range of international links.  London Stansted and Luton airports are also viable travel options.  Upon arrival, we recommend traveling into London via train or underground to London Victoria Station and from here catching a train to Maidstone East. Alternatively, trains can be caught from London St. Pancras to Maidstone West, sometimes requiring a change at Strood.

From Heathrow:

Heathrow is connected to the London underground as well as having National Express coach services. We recommend catching the London underground using the Piccadilly line to Hammersmith where you can change onto the District line to Victoria train station.

From Gatwick:

There are two routes to get from London Gatwick to Maidstone by train. The first is to catch a direct train to London Victoria, and from here catch a train to Maidstone East train station. Alternatively, delegates may catch a train to London St. Pancras International, and from here catch a train to Maidstone West train station. The following website may help arrange transport into London:

From Stansted:

Stansted runs regular trains and coaches into London.  The Stansted Express train stops at Tottenham Hale station where passengers can change onto the Tottenham Hale underground service to travel into central London using the Victoria line.

From Luton:

Luton runs direct coach services to and from London Victoria and St. Pancras International.  Their website provides helpful information:

London To East Malling and accommodation

Upon arrival, we recommend traveling into London via train or underground to London Victoria station and from here catching a train to West Malling [WMA] or Maidstone East [MDE] for access to taxis for travel to accommodation, or East Malling [EML] for direct access to the conference centre and the research campus.

By Eurostar

Delegates traveling via Eurostar should arrive at Ebbsfleet international station and catch a direct train to Maidstone West Station [MDW].

Train links to Maidstone

Maidstone is well connected to London with three train stations. Maidstone East is the main train station in town. It has direct trains to London Victoria with most stopping at East Malling station. Maidstone West and Maidstone Barracks are smaller stations, on the line to London St. Pancras and Ebbsfleet international. Both Maidstone East and Maidstone West train stations have taxi ranks where transport can be arranged to accommodation.

Early / late arrivals or groups traveling:

Rail links may offer reduced services overnight and on Sundays. If travel is in unsociable hours or if delegates are traveling in parties of two or more, it may be more convenient to organize a taxi transfer to or from the airport.

To and from NIAB-EMR
